What should you prepare for a Shanghai hospital visit?

Short answer: confirm the exact hospital, campus, department, identity document, appointment route, payment plan and language support before you travel.

Non-clinical information: this checklist organizes practical preparation. Follow the hospital and your doctor's instructions for medical records, medicines, tests and treatment.

Identity and appointment

  • Original passport or the identity document accepted by the hospital
  • Appointment confirmation or the official inquiry record
  • Exact campus, building, floor and department
  • The name used in the hospital system, matching the identity document

Communication and records

  • Preferred language and confirmed interpretation plan
  • Only the records the hospital or doctor asks you to bring
  • A concise list of questions for the clinician
  • A private way to store documents—do not post them in comments or public forms

Payment and insurance

  • Ask the hospital which payment methods the exact service accepts
  • Confirm coverage and direct billing with your insurer before the visit
  • Keep official receipts and documents needed for reimbursement

On the day

  • Allow time to find the correct campus and registration area
  • Follow the number display, announcement or department instructions
  • Keep prescriptions, receipts and follow-up instructions together after the visit

What YXJ can and cannot do

YXJ can help with public booking information, practical preparation, hospital navigation, bilingual communication and an organized recap. YXJ cannot diagnose, interpret medical results, prescribe, choose treatment, sell hospital access or guarantee an appointment.

Emergency: call 120 or go to an emergency department. A preparation checklist is not emergency care.
