Public outpatient or international medical service?

Short answer: compare the actual hospital's language, booking, price, payment and insurance arrangements. The label alone does not answer every question.

Non-clinical information: YXJ does not recommend a doctor or decide which clinical service is appropriate. Ask a qualified medical professional when the choice depends on medical need.

Five questions to compare

LanguageWhat languages are available at registration, during the consultation and for written documents?
BookingIs there a separate official hotline, website, mini-program or service desk?
PriceWhat are the current registration and service fees? Request the official price rather than assuming.
Payment and insuranceWhich cards, mobile payments, cash or direct-billing arrangements are accepted for this service?
Hours and campusInternational services may have different hours or locations from regular outpatient clinics.

What the official information supports

Shanghai encourages international medical providers to develop foreign-language booking and multilingual services and to offer several payment routes. Availability still depends on the institution. The municipal international medical services directory is a useful starting point for official contact details, not a ranking.

A safe decision process

  1. Ask the hospital whether the relevant department exists in both routes.
  2. Confirm the earliest available time and the full fee structure.
  3. Ask your insurer whether the exact hospital, department and payment route are covered.
  4. Choose based on confirmed practical facts and clinical advice where needed.
Emergency: call 120 or go to an emergency department. Do not use this comparison to delay urgent care.

Practical support

Need help comparing the published process?

Send the hospital, department, date and language. YXJ can help organize practical questions but cannot make a clinical decision.
